Sara Louise Reay Christopher, 87 of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
She was born February 14, 1930 in Windber, a daughter of the late John H. and Anna M. Schultz Reay.
Sara was a 1948 graduate of Windber High School and also Hammond Beauty School in Johnstown in 1949.
She had worked as a sales clerk in Grants in Windber, at the former GC Murphy & Co., Berkowicz Sewing Factory and at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department all in Waynesburg. She also worked...

Sara Louise Reay Christopher, 87 of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
She was born February 14, 1930 in Windber, a daughter of the late John H. and Anna M. Schultz Reay.
Sara was a 1948 graduate of Windber High School and also Hammond Beauty School in Johnstown in 1949.
She had worked as a sales clerk in Grants in Windber, at the former GC Murphy & Co., Berkowicz Sewing Factory and at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department all in Waynesburg. She also worked as a beautician in Waynesburg for a while, but most of her life she was a house wife taking care of her husband and children.
Sara lived in Camp Picket, VA with her husband Charles and that is where her first son was born. She then lived in Akron, OH, where her second son was born. She and her husband moved to Waynesburg and her daughter was born.
She was raised in the Lutheran Church in Windber and in later years she attended the Jefferson United Methodist Church with her family.
Sara was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and she attended activities at the Senior Citizens Center in Jefferson.
On July 31, 1951 she married Charles Irvin Christopher in Winchester, VA, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Charles Irvin Christopher Jr. and his wife Sammi of Taylortown, Robert Henry Christopher and his wife Linda of Ft. Washington, MD, and Susan Louise Christopher of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Jennie Lee Christopher, Jason Bryant Christopher (Becky), Erin Marie Christopher, and Robert Patrick Christopher; three great grandchildren, Lucas Christopher Minnick, Zoey Anne Christopher and Alexandria Elizabeth Menke; a brother, Robert Henry Reay and a sister, Cora Irene Reay Edwards.
Deceased are siblings, Dorothea Schoch Reay in infancy, Frances Schultz Reay Brandan, James Paul Reay, Lawrence Leigh Reay, Twilia Jean Reay Foster, Earl C. Reay, Mildred Reay Riley, Raymond William Reay, Jennie Mae Reay, and Wilbert Reay.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., in the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 190 Washington St., Jefferson, PA 15344, with the Rev. Richard E. Bowser officiating. Following the memorial services will be a luncheon in the Jefferson Community Center. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Jefferson United Methodist.
